Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are You Organic?

No, becoming certified organic is a very lengthy, difficult and extremely expensive process.  Unlike most of the big farms in this country and abroad we don’t spray crops as a matter of course. If it is essential because of disease in a particular crop we will use chemicals to treat this.

  • How does buying from Tony's Veg Box benifit the environment?

At Tony’s we believe that it is our responsibility to not only protect the environment, but to persuade others to do their bit too. We use suppliers that do their best to cut down on chemicals used for fertilizer and pesticides and this helps to preserve rural ecosystems. Using local suppliers’ cuts down on the delivery miles and therefore the carbon dioxide produced and by purchasing from Tony’s instead of driving to the supermarket you are reducing your own carbon footprint.  Many delivery companies buy new cardboard boxes to supply their customers, at Tony’s we use second hand boxes from deliveries that we receive to the Shop, we are happy to collect the box from your previous delivery to reuse again and again. As you will notice if you order one of our boxes, we don’t wrap each item in plastic packaging, like most supermarkets do these days, and we try to keep all packaging to a minimum.

  • Can i have a delivery on any other day?

Currently we are only able to deliver on a Thursday.  We spend most of our time in the fields growing all of the veg for the boxes and the shop and so this gives us very little time in which to deliver. This is especially true in the winter when the days are short and there is limited time to get everything done on the growing side of the business.  If demand becomes such that we need two days for delivery then we will look at expanding and giving our customers a choice of days to receive delivery

  • When do i need to order?

We are requesting that you place your order on or before lunchtime on wednesday on the week that you want your order.

  • What time will you deliver?

This depends very much on where in bath you live, but generally Luke will be doing the rounds between 10am and 11.30am. The traffic and the amount of deliveries may also have an impact and mean that you will receive your order a little later.
